Mary Smith

The late Mary P. Smith departed this life on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, North Carolina Mary Pearl Gooden Smith was born on
July 12, 1939 in Natchez, Mississippi.
Mary was a devoted wife and mother. She traveled extensively with her husband and soulmate, Fred Smith, who was in the military. There were many times Mary was called upon to maintain the Smith household because of her husband’s many deployments. Mary always put the lives of her husband and five children before her own, giving a true definition of “unconditional love.” Mary’s love for the Lord was the basis of why her heart was so loving. Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and mother-in-law. We are extremely grateful to God for the precious years we shared with her.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Briggs, her children, Bruce and Becky Smith and her brother, Major Clyde Briggs.
She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Fred Smith of Fayetteville, NC; her three children, Bonita Linkins of Timonium, MD, Barry (Julie) Smith of Sumter, SC and Brian Smith of Columbia, TN; grandchildren, Nicole Moore of Fayetteville, NC, Tony Provost of Fayetteville, NC, Courtnie Smith of Columbia, SC, Symone Linkins of Timonium, MD, Mia Smith of Fayetteville, NC and Bryant Smith of Columbia, TN; great-grandchildren, Diaviona Lawrence of Fayetteville, NC, Deja Lawrence of Fayetteville, NC, Joshua McIntyre of Fayetteville, NC and Justin Moore of Fayetteville, NC; sister, Chasty Middleton of Roxie, MS; brothers, Ed Benning (Toni) Briggs of Titus, AL, Joseph (Venus) Briggs of Oklahoma City, OK, John (Lisa) Briggs of Biloxi, MS, Charles Briggs of Roxie, MS and Lamar (Sandy) Briggs of Panama City, FL; special friends, Carl and Ada Carr of Raeford, NC, Patsy Smith of Durham, ME; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
